Biography


Rosana Whittlesey passed away April 13, 2024, at her home, after a short struggle with gallbladder cancer. She was born August 5, 1947, in Pasadena, California, the daughter of Frederick and Ruth Carter Langford.


Rosana was a docent at the Gamble House for many years and was a founding member of ReNew United Methodist Church. She traveled widely and was interested in Japanese flower arranging, quilting, and family history, and genealogy. She was a teacher and leader of handbell ringing and was a member of P.E.O., a women’s philanthropic, educational organization.


Surviving family includes her husband, Albert C. Whittlesey, daughter Karen Whittlesey (partner Aksel Quintus-Bosz) and grandchildren Andrew and Lauren Van Auken; sister Julie Busse (Walt), nephew Michael Busse and nieces Meghan Busse and Kendra Steele; sister-in-law Barbara Whittlesey (Jeff Zauderer).


A celebration of her life will be held at ReNew United Methodist Church, 699 Monterey Rd., South Pasadena, on Saturday, April 27 at 2 PM. Please consider a contribution to ReNew United Methodist Church or to The Gamble House in place of flowers.

I have many memories in the house as a teenager with Karen. Might have been the first time I had chicken fajitas and low calorie sour cream. Always a warm and inviting household. I loved to the height chart in the breakfast nook that everyone was logged on.
