Veledo Elizabeth Jones

Veledo Elizabeth Jones was born on February 11, 1939, to Artie Wright Newby and Lillie Mae Bookman-Newby in Austin Texas. She transitioned to glory on Wednesday September 20, 2023.

She was educated in the Austin Independent School District and graduated from The Original L.C. Anderson High School in 1958. After graduation she briefly attended the University of Texas at Austin.

She would marry Walter Christopher Jones Sr. and they would go on to have four sons. Walter Jones Jr., Richard Jones, Brandon Jones, and Derrick Jones. She has six grandchildren: Garrett Jones, Justin Jones, Daria Jones, Devri Jones, Christopher Jones, and Karl Cully and one great grandchild: Maliyah Jones.

She had five Siblings: Lois F. Bell (John Deceased), Missouri City, TX, Barbara Scott (Melvin), Pflugerville, TX, Artie Mae Newby Houston, TX, Collins Newby (Deceased) and Patricia Allen (Altadena, CA).

One of her favorite things to do was watch old westerns on the TV. Many Saturday afternoons you would find her there in front of the TV watching them. She was also a big fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the now Las Vegas Raiders.

What she really enjoyed more than anything was spending time with her family. Whether it was just a weekend visit or a full-blown family function, that is what truly made her happy.

Nieces: Leticia Bell (Deceased), Melba Newby-Green, Austin, TX, Deborah Newby, Altadena, CA, Deirdre Davis, Las Vegas, NV, Chaurice Jacobson (Christa), Kansas City, KS, Collene Hammock (Ben), Shawnee, KS. Great Nephews & Nieces: Daryl Sherman II, Reuben J. Sherman, Davida Newby, Natasha Davis, Davontae Green, Jordan Jacobson, Julianna Jacobson, Nalijah Newby, Nakai Newby, Zion Newby and Truman Hammock.
