Mary Ellen “Meg” Goode Reardon

July 26, 1948 – March 31, 2026

Mary Ellen “Meg” Goode Reardon, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, at the age of 77 in Newport Beach, CA.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Meg was the cherished daughter of John T. Goode and M. Genevieve Goode. Raised in Chicago, IL she attended Queen of All Saints Elementary School (Sauganash, IL) and Marywood High School (Evanston, IL)before moving to California, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of San Diego.  Meg spent most of her adult life as a resident of La Canada Flintridge, CA later moving to Orange County, CA to be closer to her family.

A devoted Christian, Meg’s faith was woven deeply into her being from childhood. She loved Jesus and carried an unyielding belief in God throughout her life. Her spiritual autobiography reflected her lifelong devotion: “From my earliest memories I remember knowing God, loving God, and knowing I was created and loved by God.” Her faith guided her actions, strengthened her through life’s challenges, and shaped the way she cared for others.

Meg’s life was defined by her love for family, community, and service. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Amy and Krista, and a proud grandmother to Addison, Lily, Jack, Hunter, and Luke. She created a warm and joyful home, establishing family traditions such as the “Reardon Ladies” Christmas ornaments and holiday celebrations, and instilling in her daughters the values of resilience, compassion, and faith. She is also survived by her brother, Michael Goode, whom she loved deeply.

Her passion for helping others extended far beyond her family. She was involved at La Canada Presbyterian Church, participating in Steven’s Ministry and Companions Ministry, organizing the “Single Parents Together” support group, helping with Vacation Bible School, and volunteering in numerous capacities over the years. Meg also gave generously to those in need, creating angel layettes for hospitals, supporting families at Christmas, and contributing to charitable efforts around the world.

Meg had a gift for bringing joy to everyday moments. She loved holidays, decorating her home, entertaining friends, and celebrating life’s small pleasures—from beets on her brunch salad to summer BBQs and sowing Halloween costumes. She had a quick wit and the love of shopping and gifts.

A memorial service was held on April 6, 2026, at the Cooke Chapel at La Canada Presbyterian Church in La Canada Flintridge, California. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association in her memory.

Meg will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her unwavering faith, boundless love, and the joy she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her.
