Mario Rene Hevia Del Puerto-Yebra
28 de diciembre de 1994 - 7 de enero de 2023
28 de diciembre de 1994 - 7 de enero de 2023
Mario Hevia Del Puerto was born in Guanajuato, Mexico on December 28, 1994 and passed in Los Angeles, Californina ten days after his 28th birthday on January 7, 2023.
Mario attended preschool at Centro de Estimulacion Temprana Heidi and elementary school at Instituto Guanajuato A.C., both in Guanajuato, Mexico. Upon moving to California in 2006, he attended Eagle Rock Elementary school for the 6th grade. Renaissance Arts Academy is where Mario completed his junior high school and high school years. Following graduation, Mario was attended Pasadena City College.
At the tender age of three, Mario learned to play the violin in the Suzuki Method and actively played and performed for 12 years. His favorite composers included: Mozart, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, Bach and Beethoven. His favorite pieces to play were: Minuet Sol Mayor and Minuet in G Major both by Bach.
Mario enjoyed spending his free time skateboarding and frequenting the local skateparks during and after high school.
He tried his hand in the tattoo industry and apprenticed for a year in 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. After this time away from his mother Mario returned home to help with the maintenance of the family residence and to look after his mother.
When the pandemic began in 2019, he and his mother contracted the virus where his mother was hospitalized and in a medically induced coma for five and a half months. During this time Mario kept himself busy with tasks at home in hopes that his mother would make a full recovery. When his mother was finally discharged from the hospital, it became Mario's duty to now care for his mother who was left debilitated from the virus. Mario continued to care for his mother for the last two years of his precious life.
Mario was survived by his mother, Laura Hevia Del Puerto, girlfriend Jasmine and her son Dominic. Mario also had two half-siblings: Rene (deceased) and Roma. Laura cared for several young children at her home and at First Methodist Church of Pasadena prior to the pandemic from the time they first moved from Guanajuato until her hospitalization in 2019. Those children also considered Mario a big brother and vice versa.
Mario's larger than life prescence, calm tone of speech, and joyful laughter will be missed immensely. He will be remembered for his love of animals, but most of all, he will be remembered for his love and dedication to his mother and the children that filled his home.
Per Laura's request, please wear light colors to the service, no black.
