Mack's Legacy of Love will continue on by us living life with passion and purpose!

Mack Q. Hopkins, Jr. was born on February 8, 1944 to parents Mack Hopkins Sr. and Geneva Hopkins (nee Pinkston) in Pasadena, California. Nicknamed “Sonny” by his family, Mack was well known in his neighborhood as an upstanding young man with a fierce devotion to his family and community. As a proud 1962 graduate of John Muir High School in Pasadena, Mack excelled in Track & Field and held school, city, and regional records in the 100-yard dash.

After graduating from high school, Mack resided in Los Angeles for many years and ultimately relocated his family to Duarte, California. Mack built a career in maintenance/custodial services and served at several organizations such as Thrifty Drug Company, California State University Los Angeles, and KTLA 5 Media Company. As founder of Mack’s Housekeeping Services, Mack also maintained the luxury homes of several families in San Marino, Pasadena, and La Canada Flintridge, CA over the course of his career. Mack took great pride in his profession and earned the respect of many for his outstanding work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit.

Family was Mack’s top priority. He met the love of his life, his beloved wife Mrs. Annie Mae Hopkins, in 1973 and built a household that became a nucleus for the extended family. The “house in Duarte” was a place where all family and friends would visit and feel welcome. During summer barbeques, holidays, and birthdays the house filled with good people, good food, good music, joy, and laughter.

Mack enjoyed music, cracking jokes, sci-fi movies, bowling, gardening, attending track meets and other sporting events, riding bikes with family members, lifting weights, and family vacations. He was also an avid storyteller, sharing family history, advice, and life lessons to those close to him.

Mack ended his life journey and transitioned on November 13, 2021 at the age of 77. He leaves his enduring legacy of love to his surviving siblings: Mr. Ronald Hopkins and Ms. Jeanie Hopkins; daughter Tamy Hopkins and sons Anthony, Darnell, Darren, Shaun, and Jammie; his 17 nieces and nephews; his grandchildren Christopher, Vincent, Crystal, Darnell Jr., and Jaleya; his 3 great-grandchildren Pryce, Bronze, and Krooze; and a village of other relatives and friends too numerous to note.
