May the souls find their rest and may hearts find their peace.
Kenneth Delano Mitchell, a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness, passed away on July 26, 2024.
He was born in Los Angeles, California, on October 4, 1940, to his late parents, Louie Potter and Gussie ‘Louise’ Mitchell. Kenneth spent much of his life in Seaside, CA, and the Monterey Peninsula before relocating to upstate New York in his later years, eventually returning to California.
Kenneth served in the Navy and had a diverse career. He worked in various laborer roles, including positions with the Sand City of Monterey and the Department of Social Services in Seaside, CA. Later, he provided room and board for senior living. Known to those close to him as Ken or Kenny, he had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, camping, and scuba diving in his younger years.
Ken was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his brothers Nathaniel “Buddy,” Joseph “Joe,” and Frank, as well as his sisters Dorothy “Dot” and Lois “Dana.” He also mourned the loss of his son, Donald Mitchell, and his grandson, Donald Mitchell Jr., affectionately known as “Little D.”
Surviving Ken is his wife, Linda, and three children from previous marriages: Kenny, Michael, and Wendy. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Kenny Mitchell Jr., David Ford, Melanie Loving, Amber Mitchell, Mika Mitchell, Lacinda Baker, and several great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is lovingly remembered by nieces Hiromi Mitchell-Swanson and Mayumi Mitchell-Gavin, nephew Derrick Brooks, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members who will cherish his memory dearly.
He will be remembered with love and respect. His ashes will be scattered in the peaceful waters of Monterey Bay, a place that holds special meaning for him.
