Craig Daniel Winslow was born on September 23, 1992, in Arcadia, CA.  He passed away unexpectedly on April 30, 2019, in Pasadena, CA. For 26-1/2 years Craig was a source of love, joy, and laughter to his family, friends, and acquaintances.

When Craig was 5, with his family, he moved to San Dimas, CA where he started kindergarten at Ekstrand Elementary and in June 2010 graduated from San Dimas High School, and thus really was a Saint.  At Lone Hill Middle School he took up euphonium and upon promoting to San Dimas High School, added the valve trombone to his accomplishment. He participated in the totality of the instrumental music education bands and especially enjoyed the band tours to Boston, MA and to Orlando, FL. These were the happiest days of his short life.

After graduation, Craig moved with his brother to their uncle’s home in Pasadena where he lived for the next 8-1/2 years. He enlisted in the United States Army in September 2017 with a passion and sense of purpose.  Training injuries, however, caused an entry level separation. Yet, the values he learned in his time at Ft. Benning, GA he carried with him until life’s ending, doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do and to be fair in all things, even when it is the hard thing. He worked at Ramen Tatsunoya as a prep chef and truly loved learning the prep work and creativity of Japanese cuisine and Japanese culture.

Craig was dedicated and raised at First Baptist Church of Pasadena where at 9 years of age, he chose to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized by Dr. William Goddard, the final baptism of his ministry in Pasadena.  In his final months, Craig truly re-engaged in the Christian faith in the church of his childhood and was excited to share what he was learning.

Craig’s love, compassion, giftings, and quick wit will be so very missed. He is survived by his mother, Coleen Cichoski (John); father,  Rick Winslow (Denise); siblings, Laurel Cooprider (Jason), Donald, and Kristin; niece, Lexi Cooprider; nephews, Zachary, Korben, and Zane Cooprider; grandparents, Marlene Winslow and Donald Hugh Winslow (Rosie); aunts, Debbie Rinehart and Wendy Lopez (Johnny); and uncle, Jay Rinehart as well as very extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life was held on Monday, May 6, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church chapel (75 N. Marengo Ave., Pasadena).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Craig’s memory to the San Dimas High School Music Department (800 W. Covina Blvd., San Dimas, CA 91773).
