Lloyd Estwick

Mountain View Mortuary & Cemetery

LLOYD  ANTHONY  ESTWICK
Lloyd Estwick, son of Gertrude Crawford Heyliger and Albert Estwick, was born,  July 22, 1935, in New Amsterdam, Guyana,  South America.  He left his homeland in 1962 to pursue higher studies in Accounting in the USA.  While in Guyana his interest and contact with the business world was as an employee of S.G. Wreford & Co. in New Amsterdam, in the Accounting department.
In the USA he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Cal. State L.A.  a Master’s degree in Business Administration from City University in New York and a Master’s degree in Business Taxation from USC.
Lloyd was a corporate employee with Atlantic Richfield Co. in their International Tax Department, here in L.A. and for four years in their corporate offices in Manhattan, New York.
Lloyd has always had an interest in the development of his community.  While in New Amsterdam he was active in the YMCA and youth activities program.  He was a member of the New Amsterdam Community Council, an organization that encouraged citizens to become involved in the activities of their community.
During his employment at Atlantic Richfield he took part in their business mentoring program for Junior High School youth in Los Angeles.  He then broadened his business support interest to his own Caribbean Community, as he envisioned this community as a significant economic entity.  He put together a team and formed the California Caribbean Chamber of Commerce.  The goal of this Chamber was to design programs and activities to help the forward growth and opportunities of Caribbean businesses and Caribbean business associates.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret/Peggy, (nee Glasgow), his sons, Mark and David, his twin sister Lloyda King,Ed.D, his older brother  Dr. Randolph Estwick and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Among many things, his baritone voice would be surely missed.
