Kathryn Jean Klomburg, lovingly known as "Kathy," graced this world on December 3, 1951, in Yonkers, New York. She found peace on August 29th, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories in the hearts of her family and a vast circle of friends.
Kathy's life was a love story for the ages, defined by unwavering devotion and companionship. For an incredible 43 years she shared an extraordinary bond with her beloved husband Robert "Bob" Klomburg. Their journey together was a tapestry woven with adventures, where they explored the world and crafted beautiful memories, each moment a testament to the enduring power of love. Kathy's favorite movie, "Gone With the Wind," mirrored her appreciation for timeless romance.
Kathy and Bob first met in 1979 and soon after received a serendipitous invitation for astrophysicist Dr. Carl Sagan, which led them both to Los Angeles. They were married in 1983 in their home state of New York. A fond memory they both shared is on their wedding day, also being Memorial Day, their ceremony was humorously graced by a local marching band parading by, inciting laughter to all. They returned to California and in July of 1986, Kathy discovered their forever home in Altadena, where she flourished in her career, her community interests, and her life with Bob.
Throughout her remarkable life, Kathy played myriad roles and touched countless lives. She was a devoted wife, a cherished daughter, a caring sister, a doting aunt, a respected colleague, and a dear friend to many. Her warmth, kindness, and contagious laughter illuminated the lives of everyone blessed to know her.
Kathy possessed an innate passion for making the world a better place, her determination making her an exemplary community activist. Over her lifetime, Kathy recevied numerous accolades for her dedication, including prestigious leadership and fundraising awards. The local Chamber of Commerce recognized her as Citizen of the Year, and she served as the esteemed President of the Altadena Guild.
Kathy's laughter was a symphony of joy, a defining note of her charismatic personality. She was a true people person, effortlessly finding delight in life's simplest moments, and her laughter had an enchanting way of spreading happiness to those around her.
Kathy's indomitable spirit shone through as she confronted life's challenges with unyielding courage. In the face of adversity, she radiated positivity and determination. For six years, she battled cancer with remarkable strength, becoming an inspiration to all who witnessed her extraordinary fight.
Kathy leaves behind her beloved husband, Bob, and a network of family and friends who will forever cherish her memory. Her legacy of love and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Per her wishes, Kathy will find her final resting place at Mountain View Mausoleum in Altadena, California. There will be no formal ceremony, in alignment with her desires. She wishes for those who knew her to rememberf all of the fun and good times they shared with her.
In this time of mourning, may we discover comfort in the treasured memories we shared with Kathy and the profound impact she left on our lives. Let her laughter resonate in our hearts, a timeless reminder to find joy in life's most precious moments.
