James Howard Miller October 31, 1942 – September 18, 2023
Born October 31,1942 in Los Angeles, California, passed away September 18, 2023 at Pasadena Mansion Board and Care under Ann Hospice in Pasadena, California. Jim was raised in Highland Park, California and Traverse City, Michigan. After graduating from Franklin High School in 1960, he attended Glendale Junior College in Glendale and Pasadena City College in Pasadena.
Jim met his first wife Lottie (Richmond) in 1965 and they welcomed their daughter, Alondra in 1967. Jim & Lottie moved their family, including 2 children from her first marriage, Gary Atwood & Denise (Atwood) Williams, from Highland Park to Altadena in 1969.
He worked as a salesperson for Bond Clothiers in Glendale, as a Route Manager for Helms Bakery in Los Angeles, A1 Cleaning in Glendale, and later started his own business, Miller Maintenance in 1970 in Altadena which is still operating today serving third generation customers.
Jim retired in 2023 from Miller Maintenance and lived in Altadena the rest of his life. Jim is a member of the Christ Church in Sierra Madre where he was active in Bible Study and Reasons to Believe Paradox Class. He was an avid reader, hiker, camper, bicyclist, and loved outdoor activities.Jim is the oldest of two children and is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Howard and Helen Miller {Goble} and his first wife, Lottie. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Sue Miller {Geyer}, a daughter, Alondra Jean Miller of Los Angeles, a stepson Steven Douglas (Carla) Smith of Frisco, Texas, grandchildren Lauren Nicole Smith, Scott Martin Smith, and Leah Michelle Smith of Frisco, Texas. He is survived by one sister, Cynthia (Roy) Ancheta of Covina, California as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 A.M. October 28, 2023 at Mountain View Mortuary, Mountain View Mausoleum, Chapel of the Gardens, 2300 Marengo Avenue, Altadena, California 91001. A reception will follow at the American Legion in East Pasadena, 179 N. Vinedo Ave., Pasadena, 91107. Donations can be made to the Reasons to Believe organization,
