Jerry Howard Burnett was born on August 11, 1931, to Ruth Larson and Goldman Burnett in Tulare, California. Tragically, Jerry lost his father when he was just five years old. His mother later remarried Evar "Blondie" Larson, who became an integral part of Jerry's childhood and life.

Jerry graduated from Tulare Union High School before earning a degree in Commerce and Finance from Occidental College, where he was an active member of the SAE fraternity. He married his college sweetheart, Dorothy (Dottie), on July 10, 1954, at the Pasadena Methodist Church.

His professional life was distinguished by a successful career in financial management. Jerry began as a Controller at Royal Industries during the 1960s and 1970s, playing a crucial role in the company’s growth. He later joined Lear Siegler Inc. as part of the Financial Auditing Team, where his expertise was vital during significant corporate transitions. Jerry concluded his career at Ducommun Aero, where he continued to make impactful contributions to the aerospace and defense sectors.

Family was always a priority for Jerry. He cherished his role as a husband, father to two boys, and in his later years, grandfather to three granddaughters and great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren. Jerry and Dottie also hosted five foreign exchange students during the 1970s, including Robin Bartolo from Belgium, who became like a third son to them.

Jerry's passion for travel was a defining aspect of his life with Dottie. Their adventures began during his Army service in Germany, where they took the opportunity to explore twelve European countries, igniting a lifelong love for exploration and learning. Over the years, they journeyed to diverse destinations, including Africa, South America, Japan, China, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Hawaii, and Canada. Their travels also included 30 wonderful years of exploring the United States and Canada in their beloved motorhome.

Jerry was very active in community service, dedicating 35 years as a volunteer for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, where his passion for this iconic event shone brightly. In addition to this, he actively participated in the Sierra Madre Kiwanis and supported the Creative Arts Group in Sierra Madre. His involvement in these organizations reflected his dedication to enriching the community and fostering a spirit of giving back.

Throughout his life, Jerry exemplified a balance between professional success and personal fulfillment, characterized by a strong work ethic, curiosity about the world, and an enduring love for his family and friends. His legacy serves as an inspiration, reminding us of the importance of lifelong learning, adventure, and the cherished connections we create along the way.

Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Dorothy (Dottie); his two sons, Robert (Rosemary) and Brian (Kay); three granddaughters, Amanda (Manny), Paige, and Karina; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Owen. He is also survived by his “third son,” exchange student Robin Bartolo and his wife, Jenni. Instead of flowers, we kindly ask that you consider making a memorial donation in Jerry's name to an organization that holds significance for you.
